Comparing the ASSURE Model and Technology Integration

The ASSURE Model is a that states that as teachers we should analyze our learners, state our objectives, select instructional methods (media and materials), Utilize media and materials, require learners' participation, and evaluate and revise.

Technology integration states that certain phases we should take as teachers. Phase 1: Determine relative advantage Phase 2: Decide on objectives and assessments Phase 3: Design Integration strategies Phase 4: Prepare the Instructional environment Phase 5: Evaluate and revise.

I feel these are very similar. Both basically state the same objectives using different words. the are both saying we that as teachers we have certain responsibilities and objectives to follow.

I dont see many differences. However technology integration is broken down into phases while the ASSURE model is not. Also, the first phase in Technology Integration is slightly different then the ASSURE model. It says "determine relative advantage" while the other says "analyze our learners."

My Dream Classroom

My dream classroom would be a 1st grade class of about twenty students. I would prefer to work with a younger grade, like first, because I feel like you get to teach and build their knowledge early on. I love working with young children because they are ready and eager to learn. I feel that twenty students wouldn't be too overwhelming for me as the teacher.

I would like to teach in an urban area such as New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, or Philidelphia. I would prefer to teach in an urban area, because it is much more diverse selection of children. I'd love to teach children of all different races, backgrounds, religions, and cultures.

The topic I chose to teach my first grade class are the four seasons. I will use webquest to assist me in teaching my students all they need to know about the four seasons. I will include a variety of options to help the students learn. I can include a word cross puzzle and other fun activities to help them learn. I will include pictures of the seasons in order to help the students visualize the seasons.

Chapter One: Short Answers

1.Name two advances or developments that have occurred in technology since the 1970s that you feel have had significant effects on education, and explain why these technological changes had such effects.
My Answer:
First of all the world wide web has been the most signifcant effect on education, because students can use it to refence all types of information. Also, Today it is much easier to cary computers around with you and you have much more interenet access available to you. It's easy to carry computers such as laptops around with you in order access the web anytime you want.

2.Discuss one emerging trend in technology and the effect it could have on classrooms and schools.
My Answer:
I think wireless internet is huge. More often teacher have the oportunity to use the internet right in their classrooms if students have laptops available (for example this class).

3.Explain reasons for developing an electronic portfolio.
My Answer:
It is an easier and more convenient way to demonstrate your skills. Creating an electronic portfolio shows you are skilled at using technology, which is very important.

My Previous Experience With Technology

I honestly don't have too much previous experience with technology. It would be extremely beneficial for me to learn more about computers and the technology I have available to me. In high school I took a web design class, but I don't remember much from it. It's important that, as a future educator, for me to be competent in technology.

What I Expect From EDTF200

So far, I'm not too sure what to expect. I hope to learn a lot more about the technology that will assist me when I become a teacher. Technology always helps in teaching children, and as a future teacher it is important for me to learn more about it.

Other Random Information: I have two siblings (an older sister and a younger brother). I decided to become an elementary teacher because I love working with children. I love my major! I have only been out of the United States twice in my life. I've been to Puerto Rico and Canada, and they were both beautiful. I would love to travel much more in the future, in fact I'd love to student teach in Ireland.
